The « Kiss Sutra », tiltle of this book found in a secondhand bookseller of Kolkata, gives a descriptive analysis of the “kiss art” drawing a parrallel between the photographical archives showing, on the one hand, the hindous temples sculptures from the Archological Survey of India, and the other hand, the kiss of Stars from the legenderary Hollywood’s movies.
Each photo is accompanied by one legend descriving the style of illustrated kiss :
“Smiling lips about to indulge in a kiss” (Lingaraja Temple, Bhubanesvar, 11th century),
“The neck – kiss in a sitting – and – standing posture” (Anthony Quinn and Lana Turner, Universal International Films),
etc.
This book was widely devoured by moth, I just could keep few illustrated pages among the less destroy and get out the rest on case to preserv my library. Only twenty pages as early did frame by a little craftsman of Pondicherry market.

Le « Kiss Sutra », titre de ce livre trouvé chez un bouquiniste de Calcutta, fait une analyse détaillée de l’art du baiser en mettant en parallèle des archives photographiques en noir et blanc représentants exclusivement, soit des sculptures de temples hindous, provenant de l’Archaeological Survey of India, soit des scènes de baisers mythiques du cinéma hollywoodien, provenant principalement de la Metro Goldwin Mayer.Chaque document est accompagné d’une légende décrivant le style de baiser illustré: baiser dans le cou, du bout du nez, hésitant ou passionné.Ce livre étant largement dévoré par les mites, je n’en conservais que les pages illustrées les moins abimées et me séparais du reste afin de ne pas contaminer le reste de ma bibliothèque. Une douzaine de pages que je faisais aussi tôt encadrer par un petit artisan du marché de Pondichéry.
